Produce Transition - Salinas to Yuma

Just wanted to let you know the transition for west coast vegetables – lettuces, herbs, green onion, broccoli, celery, cauliflower – is underway. A while back I was talking about how the price increases on lettuces caused by the heatwaves and subsequent wild fires in California would likely just merge into the increased pricing during transition. Well that’s pretty much occurred. We saw a small dip in pricing on iceberg in October but its shooting back up again. Romaine never took a break. Its been well above average since July really. Best case scenario we see some pricing subside right before Christmas. Worst case scenario, depending on weather and trucking conditions, Valentines Day.
